In the Affect House, complex relationships between inside and outside are amplified through the development of a facetted ceiling. The intricate ceiling/roof reflects views throughout the house and reframes the experience of the “natural and exterior” landscapes. A kaleidoscopic ceiling is formed to produce ambient effects, where reflections are adjusted to multiply views, light and textures exponentially, while concealing the more private activities in the house. The folded construction system combines a geodesic structural method with muqarna-like ornamental systems.
