For The Case des Las Artes complex, the formation of the cladding system operates synchronically as a programmatic organisational device, an environmentally responsive screen, urban furniture and structure.  Self stabilising precast concrete panels are organised in alternating folding rhythms producing “rugged” and textured surfaces.  Lateral openings are produced, while program is latently accommodated through its geometrical configuration.  The building system acquires a higher degree of grain in order to doubly address program as well as institutional identity, where the cladding system wraps around the building to multiply the effects of its performance as well as providing a visual and formal unity across three distinct schools.
